Photovoltaic power generation is a small category of solar power generation. Solar power generation includes photovoltaic photochemical, photo induced, and photobiological power generation. There are the following differences between the two:

1. The principle and device of power generation are different. Solar power generation is achieved by using a collector to drive a turbine to generate electricity, which is a method of converting heat into electricity. However, photovoltaic power generation devices are relatively simple and have lower requirements for light, making them more suitable for small-scale development and therefore more suitable for decentralized utilization.

3. Specific application: Photovoltaic power generation has been industrialized, and the utilization technology is more mature, suitable for large-scale promotion and use. At present, thermal power generation is mainly in the stage of scientific research demonstration, and the cost is also at a very high level. The large-scale application still requires time.

In fact, solar power generation is rapidly becoming an important method for solving power problems. Most people know that the cost of solar power generation has dropped by an astonishing 82% in the past decade. Many innovations in solar energy site selection and public land use (other uses of the site) are increasing the economic viability of solar power generation. The obvious location is on the rooftop. As an economic decision, many retailers and large flat roof warehouses have added solar panels.

A turning point in the universal concept is the idea of floating solar panels. In this design, it is placed on the water body so as not to occupy valuable land, and the water can keep the solar panels cool, thereby improving solar energy conversion efficiency.
