Türkiye Extends Safeguard Duties On Iranian Float Glass For Three More Years

On May 16, 2025, the Ministry of Trade of Türkiye issued Announcement 2025/3, making the final judgment of the third sunset review of safeguard measures for float glass originating in Iran, and proposing to continue to levy safeguard measures tax on the products involved for three years (from the temporary safeguard measures), as follows: $36/ton from December 12, 2024 to December 11, 2025, $35/ton from December 12, 2025 to December 11, 2026, and $34/ton from December 12, 2026 to December 11, 2027. The implementation of measures shall be subject to the relevant taxation orders of the President of Türkiye. The Türkiye tax numbers of the products involved are 70.04, 70.05 and 70.06.

Türkiye Iran

On June 18, 2014, Türkiye launched a safeguard investigation on float glass originating in Iran. On August 28, 2015, Türkiye made a final affirmative judgment on the case and began to levy a three-year safeguard tax on the products involved. Since then, Türkiye has carried out two sunset reviews, on December 11, 2018 and November 20, 2021, respectively, and made two final affirmative judgments. On December 7, 2024, Türkiye launched the third sunset review investigation of safeguard measures against Iranian float glass (see Announcement 2024/10); At the same time, it is recommended to impose a temporary safeguard measure tax of $36/ton on the products involved for a period of 200 days starting from December 12, 2024.
