In solar panel manufacturing, "trimming" refers to the process of removing excess material from the edges of the laminated solar panel assembly. This material usually consists of:

Excess Encapsulant Material: During the lamination process, the encapsulant (typically EVA or POE) flows and extends beyond the edges of the glass and solar cells.

Excess Backsheet Material: The backsheet material also often extends beyond the edges after lamination.
