The primary role of the automatic edge cutting machine is to trim the excess encapsulant and backsheet material that extends beyond the edges of the solar cell matrix after the lamination process.
This is a critical step for several reasons:
1.Precise Dimensions: The lamination process often leaves a "flashing" or "squeeze-out" of encapsulant (e.g., EVA or POE) and backsheet material around the perimeter of the panel. The edge cutting machine trims this away, bringing the panel to its final, precise dimensions. This is essential for proper framing and installation.
2.Clean Edges for Framing: The trimmed edge provides a clean, even surface for the aluminum frame to adhere to. Excess material would interfere with the framing process, leading to a weaker and potentially less aesthetically pleasing result.
3.Preventing Delamination (Indirectly): A clean, well-defined edge can indirectly help prevent delamination (separation of the layers) over time. Excess material can create stress points or pathways for moisture ingress, which can contribute to delamination.
4.Aesthetics: A neatly trimmed edge contributes to the overall professional appearance of the finished solar panel.
5.Preparation for Subsequent Processes: The trimmed edge prepares the panel for the next steps in the production line, such as corner milling (if done after edge trimming) and junction box attachment.
6.Handling and Safety: Trimming removes potentially sharp or uneven edges of the laminate, making the panel safer to handle.
